MESOLA AND MESOLA FOREST
The town grew up around the castle of the Este
family, an imposing building built by Alfonso II at the end of the 16th
century, as country residence for his wife Margherita Gonzaga.
The old hunting reserve, is now the Gran Bosco della Mesola Nature
Reserve, a centuries old woodland of ilexes populated by the Mesola Deer,
an autochthonal species.
