The origins of the carrot are very ancient, but it was not until the Renaissance in Europe that it began to be cultivated steadily and tasty varieties were obtained.
It prefers temperate climate and lowland soils, possibly cool. Before the reclamation work, the carrot was grown in intercropping with other traditional crops; more extensive production of this vegetable began in the 1970s.
