Bosco Eliceo Doc Wines

The wines of the sands

Viticulture in Ferrara has been identified over the centuries with the Uva d'Oro vine, whose origins seem to date back hypothetically as far as the Etruscans in the flourishing city of Spina. The grafting of the vine in the Valleys probably took place in 1528, when Ercole II Duke of Este married Renata of France, daughter of Louis XII, who brought as a dowry a vine from the Côte d'Or of Burgundy, the Uva d'Oro precisely, which found the perfect habitat in the areas of the Delta Sand Dunes and the Dossi of the Bosco Eliceo to reproduce at its best, among the holm oaks and delta bushes. The particularly humid, foggy and static environment, the strongly brackish air and soil, the constant proximity of the sea and the lack of fresh water contribute, over the centuries, to the formation of a grape with a very strong character. The Wines of the Bosco, Fortana, Merlot, Bianco del Bosco, Sauvignon, with their light and aromatic, slightly savory taste, whether white or red, manage to marry perfectly with meat and fish dishes.
Fortana is distinguished by its ruby red color, winy aroma characteristic of the grape variety and dry flavor. The minimum alcohol content is 10.5°.
Merlot has a deep ruby red color when young, lighter in maturity: characteristic, slightly herbaceous aroma; dry flavor. The minimum alcohol content is 10.5°.
Sauvignon has a straw-yellow color; delicate, slightly aromatic aroma; dry flavor. The minimum alcohol content is 11°.
Bianco is distinguished by its pale straw yellow color; delicate aroma; fresh flavor. The minimum alcohol content is 10.5°.
